Where to Find Effortless Window Treatments

When it comes to enhancing the beauty and functionality of your home, window treatments play a crucial role. They not only provide privacy and light control but also add a touch of style to your living spaces. But with so many options and price points, how do you make sure you find right fit for your home and budget?

Retail — Pottery Barn

Pottery Barn  actually has a pretty solid selection of options for window treatments, including a few semi-customizable draperies and roman shades. They don’t have a ton of fun or colorful fabrics, but you can definitely find some neutral linens with a nice drape.  One big plus is you can order fabric samples online. I like the Emery Collection for light filtering.

While not the fanciest, they also have a decent hardware line that’s pretty flexible.  They will likely have a split in the rod, which can sometimes catch the rings when they slide, but honestly they’re not bad.

Budget Blinds or a Local Window Treatment Companies:

For those looking for affordability with decent quality, Budget Blinds is franchise owned and in multiple locations. They’re usually about 40% less than the Shade Store, but  but they still offer reputable products like Hunter Douglas. They’ll come out to your home to measure your windows, bring samples for you to select from, and also provide installation. If you don’t need any design advice, this is a good middle of the road option for things like roller shades and simpler window treatments.

The Shade Store:

The Shade Store is a great option if you’d prefer a bit more of a full service experience — including measuring, design advice, and installation. They’re well known for their products, and have locations in most major cities. One thing to know is that they’re a large company, so have certain procedures they follow, and can’t really work outside those parameters. They have about a million swatches you can order online, and they’re great for all types of products including rollers, romans, draperies and automations. Keep in mind that the price point is definitely higher here, but they do make the whole process super easy and streamlined.

Everhem or Wovn Home:

Everhem or Wovn Home are both  direct to consumer online companies, that specialize in a smaller range of products like roman shades and draperies. The quality of their fabrics is great, but they don’t offer measuring or installation services, so you’d be on your own for that. If you’re pretty handy, or know someone who is, this is a great way to get a more tailored look that’s a bit less expensive than The Shade Store or local workroom.

Your Local Interior Designer:

Engaging the services of a local interior designer is the best way to receive personalized advice and assistance with selecting window treatments. Interior designers have in-depth knowledge of local suppliers, fabric selections, and installation techniques. We can help guide you in choosing the most suitable window treatments that align with your overall aesthetic vision and functional requirements. Usually a designer will work with you to select custom fabrics, and then will meet on site with their local workroom to take measurements and discuss any additional details. This is the most custom option and can range in pricing, so we can help get quotes and navigate the best path for your project.

When it comes to buying window treatments, there are numerous options available to suit every budget and style preference. Whether you opt for retail companies like Pottery Barn, The Shade Store, local providers such as Budget Blinds, or more contemporary brands like Everhem or Wovn Home, or even enlist the expertise of a local interior designer, remember to consider factors like quality, customization options, and overall design aesthetic within your home. By carefully choosing the right window treatments, you can elevate the ambiance of your living spaces and create a welcoming and stylish atmosphere.
